OUR APPROACH

Our goal at Out of the Rain (OOTR) is to serve up to 1,000 girls and single mothers annually who are in transition and need intervention  in order to sustain themselves and their families. We will work with community resources like the Hall County Headstart Program and the Hall County Boys & Girls Clubs to attract girls and single moms to our program.  We will offer counseling, life skills and leadership training, career development and entrepreneurship training, housing coordination, and employment coordination through an OOTR facility that is convenient to get to.  Programming will last a minimum of three months for basic life skills courses to help women in transition become ready for a more intensive nine month to 12-month training opportunity. In addition, our goal is to establish an in-house on the job training component.  LaDonna is an accomplished seamstress and clothing and shoe designer.  She seeks to learn how to start and operate a successful sewing, alterations and clothing design business and then use that business to teach single mothers the skills while they earn income as employees of the shop.
